Heartland Community College campus with the Heartland seal in the background

Heartland Community College is a place of connections and a place of belonging.

Keith Cornille, Heartland Community College President

We connect students with educational opportunities, helping individuals gain skills that can transform their lives.

We connect students with 4-year institutions, helping them achieve the credits they need to transfer and, more importantly, obtain the skills they need to succeed once they take that next step.

We connect the economic drivers in our community with skilled individuals who help the workforce thrive. By offering degrees and certificate programs that directly align with our regional labor needs, we’re helping students gain in-demand skills that lead to a job and the opportunity to build toward a career.

Our campus locations serve as a resource for the communities we serve to connect and forge a sense of belonging. Each year, we have community groups and organizations, statewide high school competitors, and thousands of Continuing Education students of all ages utilize our facilities to gather, learn, and explore.

The COUNTRY Financial Trail project, launched last fall, is a physical connection between our main campus in Normal and the Constitution Trail that runs throughout Bloomington and Normal.

In these pages, you will be able to read more about that project, which was a collaborative effort between the College and industry partners, including COUNTRY Financial, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, conservation experts, and volunteer organizations, including the Friends of the Constitution Trail and many others.

I invite you to visit our main campus in Normal and traverse this new trail. This project was created to be a welcoming space and a place that fosters belonging for all in our community.

At Heartland Community College, it is our fundamental mission to create an environment, in the classroom, in the offices and lounges, and now even on the banks of Birky Pond, where individuals know they have a place of support.

That way, as we connect people and organizations together for the next step, we know they are always welcome here and belong here.

That is our mission as your community college.
